Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
